Autococker Paintball Gun

The Autococker Paintball Gun is one of the first guns that were developed specifically for use in paintball games. A closed-bolt semi-automatic paintball marker, the Autococker is manufactured by Worr Game Products.

Over the years, the Autococker has risen to become one of the most popular paintball guns in a sport that has no shortage of impressive tools. Much of its reputation stems from its extreme customizability as well as its complexity. The closed-bolt design of the Autococker in particular has attracted a lot of attention, and many users claim that this greatly enhances its firing accuracy, although this claim has its share of detractors.

The Autococker has long been a ubiquitous fixture in professional paintball tournaments all over the world, particularly during the gun’s heyday in the early to middle 1990's, although it has admittedly been losing out in popularity over the newer electropneumatic markers that have entered the paintball gun arena in recent years. Nevertheless, the Autococker remains a formidable tool in the sport. It continues to be a viable option for all levels of players, and will likely remain so for many more years to come.

In terms of function, the Autococker can be best described as a pump marker with an automated pumping mechanism. As is typical of all pump markers, the Autococker is of a closed bolt design, and its operation is comprised of two distinct phases or cycles: the firing cycle and the re-cocking cycle.

It would only be fair to mention that some criticisms have been leveled against the Autococker in recent years, most notably against its reliability and its relatively slow rate of fire.

We mentioned earlier that the Autococker paintball gun is a somewhat complex piece of machinery, and while this has made it a favorite among paintball aficionados who like to customize and tinker with every aspect of their tools, this has also made the Autococker a gun that is not for the inexperienced or the impatient. Unfortunately many users who fall into these categories have been quick to blame the results of their own mishandling on the design of the Autococker. As a result, rumors of the gun’s unreliability have circulated for a number of years. In truth however, with proper setup and maintenance procedures, the Autococker is no less reliable than any other paintball gun on the market, and it remains one of the most well loved tools in the sport today.
